Does Sex and the City the series show what Manhattan is really like?

I know the movies don't, but the TV show. Is that what Manhattan is really like or not?
Well to be honest, in the show they all have jobs and work lol!

oh yes, and dont forget shows like "friends" and "seinfeld"..everybody in NYC just sits around coffee shops all day and the Rent Fairy comes along once a month to pay the 00 bill
